- Step1: Admit that you have a problem. Admit it and say it. Even if only to yourself
- Step 2: Describe your problem. The best thing to do with a problem is to describe it to someone.
- Step 3: Identify possible solutions. Think of things or ways to solve the problem. Maybe get help.
- Step 4: Choose the best solution. Compare the solutions and choose the one you think solves the problem.
- Step 5: Do it. Go ahead, get up and solve your problem. Sometime this can be the hardest step
It does seems too obvious. I am not claiming this is an original idea. But I am advocating it's use. Practice them regularly to be better at it and be better at solving your problems. It is not even a "framework". It is a template at best. Each step can be be involved as you want or it can be skimmed through. The 5 Steps does not solve the problem. That is still very much up to you.
What I hope to do is provide an answer to "What do I do next?"
The beauty of the 5 Steps is that you can use it anywhere. Use them for your professional problems. Use them for your personal problems. The 5 Steps is flexible enough for you to apply it in a variety of ways. This will show you how.
If by reading the list above and reading the posts on this site you are inspired to solve your problem, then my job is done.
